04Sending one as a gift

05Staying safe
Gift cards are a favorite tool for scammers because the transaction is instant and hard to reverse. A legitimate request for payment — from a business, a family member, a government agency, or anyone else — will never come as a demand to buy Amazon gift cards and read the codes over the phone.
Red flag If someone urgently asks you to buy gift cards to pay a bill, fine, tax debt, or “verify your identity,” stop. That’s a scam pattern, regardless of who they claim to be.
